Adjacent to the south shore of the Sol Duc River, the rain forest setting hosts an accessible interpretive nature trail, fishing, picnicking, and trails to explore the natural beauty. During the summer when the river is low water, there is tubing or float run between the 'Day Use' areas next to Sites 9 and 45. Interpretive programs are presented in the amphitheater during the summer.
From Forks, WA travel northeast on US Highway 101 for 20 miles. Klahowya Campground is north of of US Highway 101, near milepost 212.
Nice sites for $17 a night. First come, first serve. Vault toilets and water spigots.
Definitely a great campground. Great size, if availability allows, you get to pick whatever site you want. There's a lovely river right near the campground. It was just 20 feet away from our site. There are also plenty of hikes nearby!
One of the restrooms was out of service when we were there but not the biggest deal. There was another, smaller option. You do have to pay via cash or check, just a heads up. They also have firewood you can purchase, but again, bring cash.
Plenty of spots to choose from! First come first serve basis. We felt like we were in the middle of the rain forest. It was beautiful. On another note: the bathrooms were 'cleanish' but smelt horrible, didn't lock or had toilet paper. No showers available either. Trash cans were within walking/driving distance.
Really great campground in what looks to be an old growth forest. Campsites are large, private, and beautiful and many are right next to the river. We camped right on the beach on beautiful soft sand with the sounds of the river nearby. Pit toilets are clean and there is plenty of potable water. First come, first serve very close to Lake Crescent. We came around 10:30AM and there were plenty of spots.
Great campground. You feel secluded and there is plenty of space and nature between the lots so you don’t see or hear your neighbors. A river runs close by. There’s water access and a bathroom.
