Located 13 miles north of Goldendale, Wash., in the Simcoe Mountians in Klickitat County. From Yakima: Take Hwy. 97 out of Toppenish. Park is 40 miles south of Toppenish. From Vancouver, WA: Take I-84 on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. At Biggs, Oregon, take Bigg's Bridge past Maryhill State Park, northbound onto Hwy. 97 to Goldendale. Brooks Memorial is on Hwy. 97, 13 miles north of Goldendale.
Group site is very private, away from everyone else on the other side of the highway. Open field with three or four trees for shade and tons of picnic tables and a fire pit when allowed. Friendly staff check in daily and even take your trash, but otherwise leave you be. Highway noise does not exactly make for a wilderness experience
This is for the east side of Brooks memorial, for the horse trails. There are some nice trails, not very long but you can get it. Total of 5 mi or so at the moment but they are adding more trail. It's a nice getaway if you live close like I do.
Great park! Clean and the volunteers were super-friendly. The weekend was packed but Monday was so peaceful and quiet. Only cons are the main road can get pretty noisy at night and it would be great to have an extra shower or so, had to wait a few times, but its camping! :)
