Ballard Campground is open from May - October. Maximum stay is 14 days. No water or trash available. Ballard Campground is on Forest Service Road 5400, 22 miles Northwest of Winthrop.
From Winthrop, Washington drive 15 miles west on Highway 20, turn right onto Lost River Road, drive 7.5 miles on pavement and continue another 1.5 miles on gravel forest road 5400 to Ballard Campground on left side of road.
Great place to stay but the national forest needs to allow street legal UTVs
Camped right by the river which was wonderful. The restrooms were in good shape and the mazama store is great if you dont want to worry about preping breakfast or other meals while around here.
