Walking Stick also provides recreation equipment like kayaks, canoes, fishing equipment and beach toys. Just bring your own tents and sleeping bags to enjoy this beautiful, open land. In addition, there are youth group activities such as merit badge workshops for girl and boy scouts, as well as outdoor skills field trips.
Pulled up thought i had the wrong address. Then saw the little sigh something bigger is a good idea! Took me abit to see the magic. Thought why dont we just to our own back yards. Lol but then i started noticing all the little bits of magic shells in the sand. Out house with a shower. Pond is very cleaned. They feed the fish at the fishing spot so they get trained to bite there.
This place is magical.
The property is beautiful. The pond offers a perfect view of the sunset. The hosts have worked to restore this 4 acres to a prairie state with native flowers, and it has paid off with an abundance of butterflies, birds, dragonflies, and owls.
Staying in the tipi is wonderful. It is possible to keep a fire going as you sleep to stay warm on chilly nights. The smoke vents out quickly but the warmth stays in.
The site is far enough away from towns and the highway that car noises seldom reach you, and the view of the stars is incredible without light pollution.
The hosts provide firewood, cast iron cookware, and fire tending tools. They even gave us a complimentary bottle of home brewed strawberry rhubarb wine! Though they live next to this property, a wall of shrubs separates their personal land from the prairie, providing complete privacy for guests. There is an outhouse (very clean) and an outdoor shower with warm water. There's also canoes and a 2-person hammock.
I cannot recommend this highly enough!
