From Vergennes: Go 1/2 mi. S on Hwy. 22A, then 6-1/2 mi. NW on local roads.
We visited during a smoky, threat of rain, weekend so the park was very empty. Like the other Vermont parks we've visited Button Bay is Amazing!! Good service, quick check-in, clean, well maintained, ample amenities. Bathrooms have clean, coin opp showers, private locking stalls, and potable water/dish cleaning stations. The pool is usable by non campers but wasn't crowded when we visited. There are fountains in the pool and a life guard. There's a boat launch outside the campground with lots of parking but no water access from sites. We walked a mile (round trip) to the point and swam off the rocks. Super nice. Cabin was away from everyone, with a fire pit, chairs, electricity, and clean futon and bunk beds. Love that they have limited generator hours. Already reserving cabins for next year.
It's such an amazing state park! The sites are quiet, private, and well maintained. There are so many wildflowers. Staff are pleasant. Beautiful views of the lake, and it's a great biking area.
Huge park with paved roads for bike riding. Stayed on a corner site, all grass with some tree shade. Very quiet at night. Slept well in the tent. Wood & ice available at the ranger station. Bathrooms are clean for a campground. Access to lake views. Walked the nature trail to the point. The cons: The sites have very little privacy. Lawn mowing starts at 8:30 am. This happened at the site next to ours. It was way too loud first thing in the morning. The views are inhibited by a lot of overgrowth. It needs to be cut way back. There are no bike trails to the lake. There are no access points to the lake for swimming.
Quiet and peaceful. Very wet this year so there are more bugs. So called handicap bathrooms are not handicap friendly at all. Cell service is ok. Facebook during the day and at night signal is good enough to stream video from your favorite place. During summer A & W Is 35 minutes away.
Absolutely gorgeous! The hiking trail to Lake Champlain was so woodsy and forested and the view at the shoreline is worth it. A gentle walk maybe 2.5 to 3 miles round trip.
