Visited Vail Lake KOA Campground last year a few days before Halloween and came back this years with my lovely friends! What a blast! Crazy camp sites decorated with monsters, scary music and so much more!!!!

We are such Gans of this place. Great staff and the views are killer. Could the bathrooms use some updating? Yes, but they are clean. Great nights full of conversation and laughter around the propane rings!

My family of five went tent camping here for the first time. We went with a couple other groups of friends. We had a great time. Lots to do for the family (bike riding, golf carts, pool, putt-putt golfing, train ride, live music, restaurant and bar). Campsites at end were spacious. It’s a big resort and you can get lost driving thru the first couple of times. The restaurant food was good and the bar “Bloody Mary” was delicious. It’s a short drive from San Diego. We can’t wait to go back.

Only complaint is about the golf cart we rented for the weekend. It wasn’t charging fully at night. Policy is to be returned above a certain % and we called to inform the staff a couple of times and early the morning we were to return. The staff came out to check it out. We had approximately 3 hours left of use before we were supposed to return and weren’t able to use it. The staff picked it up and took it back for repair. We asked about being reimbursed for the couple of hours we weren’t able to use. They told us “sorry!” Some compensation would have been nice.

The campground is great. However, getting a reservation isn't that easy. Jake at the entrance kiosk is very friendly, courteous, and helpful. Will definitely go back for day use until we can book a spot for a few nights.

Our family always has a great time at this campground. Lots of activities to do, including some great mountain biking.
