Turkey Ridge is for campers who want a serene outdoor experience. It is a Class C walk-in campground that includes camp pads, picnic tables, cooking grills and showers. Drinking water and toilets are located near the parking lots.
Sites in the Deer Ridge, Turkey Ridge and Youth Group campgrounds do not require advance reservations. Backpackers and horseback riders should, however, make advance arrangements through the park office.
Love this place ..Been there 3 times and will definately go back
Brought my son and a friend here to camp.
We stayed in the primitive camping area, and we loved it.
I'm from Johnson county and it's always been just Fern Clyffe to me. I never took in the beauty & peace the place truly offers.i too recently kept it primitive camping & a stroll around the lake with my pup Emmy Lou and to stress again enjoy the beauty and peace of the place and leave it better than you found it. A quote of a lifetime. Leave It Better Than You Found It from birth to death it's a great day
Came here for a night camping in March. It was cold, but with warm sleeping bags and blankets we were alright. We pretty much had the entire state park to ourselves, which was awesome. The campsite is large and each site is fairly private from the others, especially with fewer people there. The area is quite beautiful. I'd recommend bringing water, since the pump closest to us didn't work, and toilet paper for the outhouse, just in case it's gone. We also brought our own firewood, so I don't know whether they sell it nearby. Overall I would highly recommend this campsite! I was a bit dubious at first, but it's quite a beautiful place once you see it! Sadly I did not take pictures of the actual campsites, only of the hiking trails.
