There are 17 Class AA campsites, 277 Class A campsites, 9 Class B/S campsites and 5 Class C campsites at Clinton Lake, with most adaptable to either tents, trailers or motor homes. The campground is open year-round with the exception of the full week prior to first firearm deer season. No entry is allowed in the Mascoutin area during that time, for a special firearm deer hunt. Showers and potable water are available from mid-April to November (weather depending). Each site is equipped with a grill and picnic table. Reservations can be made online at the Reserve America website. Camping loops H, I, J and K are alcohol-free. Camp Quest Group Camp, located off Route 54 at Birkbeck, is an area for adults or youth groups and has room for 75. It provides a secluded wooded setting and has a large shelter with electricity, three RV pads with electrical hookups, toilets, tables, grills and water. No shower facilities are present at the group camp area. Portions of the Class AA, A and B/S and the group camp are handicapped accessible.
Love the heated lake and hometown lakeside restaurant The Boondocks.
Apparently they only have rules for a select few. First time at this location. I have stayed in many parks all with their pro and con list. This one was the worst. These kids who are very much kids arrived with adults who left them there unattended for extended periods of time. Then assuming the adults were there at night they were not supervising these kids. I feel sorry for the people camping close to them. They we’re running up and down the street until at least 2am. I stayed one letter over and could still hear them through the woods. They were running around the restrooms playing in the sinks. Screaming and running through other people camp sights. We were hoping for a nice peaceful weekend but ended up listening to kids fight and scream all night the entire weekend. Trip completely ruined. When we return to this area it definitely wont be to this camp grounds. Why have rules if they don’t apply? Signs state there are people and tent limits and designated quiet times. I suggest dawson lake over this one. Certain noises you must over look when being outside. Un supervised children aren’t on that list. Not once did i hear an adult tell them to be quiet calm down or go inside. Camping is not an excuse to neglect your children and 2am is not play time. This was in I section we were in H around midnight we went over to see what was going on as one of the kids made noises as if they were being killed. They weren’t they just thought it funny to yell for help. She couldn’t of been more than 5.
This is a Central Illinois hidden gem! Tucked back in farmland is the closest thing to a real beach. Lake Clinton is large and surrounded by beautiful woods. The beach is ideal for families to spend a day. The cost is only $2/person. There is inexpensive ice cream available at the beach entrance and concessions if you walk. Cash only! It's a perfect picnic location, and coolers are allowed. Find a picnic table or spread out a blanket under a shady tree.
Love the opportunity to fish, camp, boat, swim, and play close to home. There are several boat ramps so it doesn't get too jammed up dropping them in and pulling them out. Plenty of space. The fish cleaning stations were closed when we went there.
Nice clean camp grounds. My favorite camp grounds in IL thus far into our camping experience. Nice trails down to and around the lake. The only thing that really needs improvement is the water pressure. It's a bit low.
