The Glades Resort began as a private country club in the ‘70’s by land baron Joe B. Hendry with a hotel, marina, golf course, and a fine club house - which was reputed to host card games for such magnates as Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, who resided in nearby Fort Myers. Joe B’s son Joel Hendry took the baton and created the Branding Iron Steakhouse at our club house. Following this era, the park transitioned and expanded into an RV Resort. Within the last five years the new ownership has upgraded the Park’s existing facilities and added a host of new sites, buildings, and recreational facilities. The upcoming season has plans for 100 more RV sites, a 1 megwatt Solar Farm, and such new amenities as a Doggy Spa, Kayaking Loop, Community Bread Oven, and Golf Cart Drive In Theater!
Our mission at the Glades Resort is to provide our guests with an engaging, private, and breath taking natural environment in which to reside. Our natural, biodiverse setting offers many outdoor activities including outdoor photography, golfing, boating, a bounty of outside gaming, biking and hiking on our nature trail and in neighboring preserves, swimming, horseback riding, fishing, bird watching and more. Just the diversity of large birds include Sand Hill cranes, Wood storks, a variety of herons, egrets, owls, eagles, anhinga, limpkins, caracaras, and more.
Although you are in the country, you will never be lacking for meeting new friends at The Glades RV Resort, Golf and Marina.
