About Campground

Picnicking and many other recreation opportunities are available along scenic Paint Creek Corridor. Forest Road #41 parallels Paint Creek five miles between Paint Creek Campground and the French Broad River. Driving for pleasure is one of the most popular activities along the corridor, though bicycling is becoming increasingly more common. Paint Creek is stocked with trout during the summer months, and fly fishing is another favorite activity. Along the corridor, you’ll also find overlooks to observe Kelly and Dudley Falls, a warm water fishing pond, hiking trails and opportunities for dispersed camping.

Directions

From Greeneville, take TN 70 south for 11.2 miles. Turn right on Rollins Chapel Rd. and follow signs to Paint Creek Campground, then turn right onto Forest Road #41 (Paint Creek Road). From Newport, turn left on TN 107, and travel 10.1 miles. Turn right at Rollins Chapel Road and follow signs to Paint Creek Campground.

Beautiful place to take a long relaxing walk in the fall. The brisk, clean mountain air is invigorating.

Gotta love Paint Creek! Beautiful area with great fishing, great camping and no cell phone reception! If you're fishing, keep in mind that from October 1st - March 1st it's catch and release only and you may only use single-hook artificial bait (no corn, worms, etc.). That's because of the delayed harvest of stocked trout.

Great place for an outdoor adventure with or without the kids. It's always beautiful. If you want to go up to the overlook, make sure you have something with plenty of clearance. Truck or SUV highly suggested. Plenty of beauty to see just parking and walking.
