Bear Paw Resort is located on Lake Chetac in Birchwood, WI. We offer back in RV parking to 5 lake side campsites that have water and electric hook ups. Each campsite has a fire pit. Firewood must be purchased on site. We have a dump station on site that is free for campers. Our shower house has coin-operated laundry equipment. We have a bar/restaurant and seafood food truck on site (please see our Facebook page for hours of operation and menu). We are located on the ATV/UTV trail. We are a family friendly resort, with a large playground, picnic tables, patio and deck.
Highly recommend Bear Paw whether for a weekend a week or seasonal! Owners are amazing! Very responsive, open to feedback and do a great job of balancing the wants/needs of a large variety of people. We were seasonal and wouldn’t have left but life circumstances changed for us.
We had a wonderful week with family and the weather and fishing were perfect. We had a great view of the lake from our cabin. Our cabin, however, was sub par for many reasons. It was very dirty (to the point our socks were brown within minutes of walking in there and our dog ate stale chips on the floor leftover from a previous guest). Our grill wasn’t usable because of too much leftover soot from previous guests and our bathroom had mold in it. We asked for help with the grill but never got follow up. We ended up cleaning the grill and the cabin ourselves. We had family renting the other cabins and their experiences were the same. We would love to come back because we love the area and have family history at the resort, but we will not be back unless some upgrades in accommodations, hospitality and cleanliness are made.
Wow - the campground itself (including the bar area, showers , playground, laundry faciltiies, etc. ) has been updated over the past few years and is clean and very well kept. All personnel are friendly and helpful. The new Cajun seafood truck is AMAZING. The seafood mac and cheese was the best I have ever had and the shrimp and fish tacos are sooooo good with the mango salsa and fried shells.
Last season the food was phenomenal. Went back at the beginning of this season (2023) and will not go back. They served drawn butter with the shrimp boil that was actually rancid cooking oil and the shrimp was mushy and tasteless. Hoping it was just a rusty beginning for the new season.
Love Bear Paw! We have been seasonal campers for 2 seasons now and we love this resort and campground. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the facilities are well kept and maintained, and the owners are friendly and show a vested interest in the resort. It’s great having the bar and food truck on site and the food is excellent! You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. We’re excited to see what next season will bring and cannot wait for the 2023 opener!! Thank you Will, Faye, and the whole team for creating a perfect refuge in the Northwoods!
