Off a primitive road, so less traffic than other areas, well kept ground, nice fire rings, and a beautiful little creek.
Long washboarded road to get here but well worth the drive because of the shade and running creek. Quiet I had a 24 ft fifth wheel and had difficulty getting into and out of a campsite.
SCORPIONS/Rattlesnake issues- nobody mentions scorpions are all over this campground. Passed a 6ft Rattler on the road in.
I was stung twice, kids stung, wife stung. We have lived in the desert our whole life and understand that’s the environment however we’ve camped many a place and never had an issue like here.
Sorry but I don’t recommend.
This campground is located at the eastern end of Turkey Creek in the Chiricahua Mountains of eastern Cochise County Arizona. It was a quiet and peaceful drive up the canyon to roads end with several trails available for hiking enthusiasts. The creek was running a clear stream of water, which surprised me for this late in the season, and the surrounding area was beautiful.
Was full when we went, hunting season, apparently... Found a nice spot just up the road. While area is quiet and gorgeous, can't go wrong. Plan on bears, though...didn't see any, but saw signs of them.
