I'm a traveling nurse. My husband and 3 year old travel with me. We usually live in our RV and over the last 2 1/2 years we've stayed in a number of camp grounds. This is the first review I've posted.

We really enjoyed our stay at Stoney Fork Creek Campground. We stayed over a 6 month period. The campground is separated by Pisgah highway. The word highway might make you think of a noisy road but it's not. Barely any traffic. It does lead you up to the parkway, to beautiful trails and scenic outlooks. The long term campers are opposite the creekside part of the camp ground. The road is gravel, well maintained, nice flat sites for any size camper. We have a 41 ft 5th wheel and had more than enough room for two vehicles as well. Looking out our window is a view of the mountains. We've enjoyed watching the colors change and the beauty of misty mornings, watching the fog travel over the mountains. Very quiet camp ground. As mentioned not very commercial with a few amenities. There's a picnic table, some sites have fire pits, and a dumpster, but it was perfect for our needs. Dan the owner is amazing. Easy to talk to, helpful and considerate.

This campground is close to anything you could want to do in Asheville. It was very convenient. Great restaurants, parks, and nature.

On a side note there's a dinner up the road called 151, a very local type place. Decent very inexpensive food. Our family of 3 could eat a meal under 20 dollars. Great hometown atmosphere.

Would definitely stay here again. A few things I would recommend that may be a little bit of a drive on the parkway but we'll worth it. Graveyard feilds is about a 30-40 min drive along the parkway. Crystal clear streams and a couple waterfalls. Craggy Gardens is another spot along the parkway, has a nice easy walk filled with mountain laurels, if you can catch them when they are blooming it is beautiful. Pisgah mountain is not far at all, but beware it is a steep hike, my 3 year old did pretty good but it is more than I'm use to, of course when you get to the top the view is worth it.

Hope this helps someone.

I love this campground!! I took away 1 Star as the grounds could be tidied up a bit but overall it is fantastic!! 6 sites on the creek with decent space, rock fire ring, full hookups and the soothing sound of the rushing creek. A few spaces across the highway back up to a horse pasture and views of the forest. Very close to Asheville, Pisgah National Forest and many outdoor opportunities! Thank you Dan!!! We loved it!!

Dan is awesome and very accommodating. The land is his family land and he shares it with other RVers (obviously he charges). Gorgeous little creek right behind the lot which you hear rustling. Lot is nice and quiet. We enjoyed our night stay.

Property has full hookups at a great price.

I rate this park 5 stars, not because of the amenities, because there are none and it's not your typical commercial campground.

My rating is based on what this park does offer. It is a small park with the Pisgah Hwy dividing the park. Most of the guests live full-time but Dan(owner) offers daily, weekly and monthly rates, as well.

What Stoney Fork Creek RV Park does offer is offer full hook up with 50 amp service, at daily rate of $17.50/ night including tax. This rate is based on a monthly stay. It is a quiet park nestled among the mountains with a creek 50 feet from our door, lots of butterflies hunting for necter from a flowering bush by our window, hummingbirds, deer, wild turkeys and an elusive black bear.

We recommend site #3. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!

Absolutely loved it! Secluded at the base of the mountains with a creek running right behind our camper and a short drive to Asheville. Doesn't get any more beautiful. We stay four nights and it was so peaceful. We will definitely be staying again when we are near Asheville. Dan, the park owner, is awesome. Super nice and accommodating.

As for the park, there are currently 10 sites. 6 are along the creek and 4 are across the street. He is putting in 18 new sites across the street as well. They should be done shortly. All sites a full hookup with 30 & 50 amp available. There is no bathhouse or laundry on the creek side sites. Not sure if there will be with the new site going in. Even so, it's still worth the stay.
