You'll want to be prepared if you're considering going here for hiking. Unlike other county parks, there are no marked trails here. There seem to be what resemble mowing paths from 5+ weeks ago that are now overrun with tall grass, so long pants for hiking are a likely must. If you're looking for an adventure that involves blazing your own trail, this is the place for you. If you're looking for marked trail that's well-maintained, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
Tiny little secluded park - a spot to fish and a boat ramp onto the river. Basic, but nice.
Natural area is a more apt description. It has a boat ramp with a couple of picnic tables and grills, but not any of the usual hiking trails you find in other parks in Iowa. If you want to explore the park, you'll want long pants and shoes you don't mind getting muddy as you'll be cutting your own trails through tall vegetation. We did find a number of fungi, so if that's your thing this is a place that won't dissapoint.
