Shady Oaks in Cross City boasts stunning beauty with the abundance of giant oak trees and wide open green spaces. For 3 months it was more like home than anywhere we've ever called home and the people there were more like family to us than family, to be honest! So much kindness in the entire community.

Many things worth noting:

-You can expect the utmost in professionalism and courtesy from the office from Kari and Savannah and also from Dave and Kyle constantly working on park maintenance

-Sites are level and spacious

-The pub serves up very cold beer, yummy pizza at fair prices. I think the cold draft was $2.50. Pool nights on Tuesdays.

-Pool has a shaded cabana and an order window where you can order food and drinks without leaving the pool

-Laundry has 6 commercial size hot dryers, one commercial size washer, and about 6 or more regular washers. A load cost about $3, which I found very good.

-The park is very well and constantly maintained. The roads are smooth and wide. The oak tree branches are watched and maintained to minimize possible damage of an old one loosing a limb.

-Propane available on site

-Affordable on-site storage we may revisit

-Cable was decent

-Electricity included

-Wifi included but neither the wifi or the internet signals are strong due to the lack of proximity to a cell tower. Check RV Life for reviews that recap cell service per provider for every park. Some neighbors that had Sprint and T-Mobile faired okay. We had prepaid Ultra plans (T-Mobile) and lost service often.

We were in Shady Oaks during Hurricane Ian. Not a drop a rain and barely a gust of wind worth mentioning. This was a place of countless blessings for us in the 3 months we were there.

I truly look forward to landing back at Shady Oaks someday.

I stayed about a month with Carrie, Dave, their son Kyle, and daughter-in-law Savannah. First of all, they are a lovely family, helpful, kind, and hospitable. Dave even helped me carry in a new mattress!

The park is beautiful and I especially enjoyed the lovely view as the sun was setting. The pool is refreshing and has a shaded deck as well as an outdoor shower. Probably the most remarkable part is the number of services they offer. The store is well stocked with necessities, including ice cream, they have a new pub with pool tables, AMI jukebox, darts and video games. It’s honestly a destination and a one-stop shop. They even fill your propane!

I also loved how clean everything is kept. Any request I had, they were happy to oblige. As someone traveling alone, it was beyond wonderful to be welcomed so warmly and treated like a valued guest. The community became like a second family to me and if I’m ever in the area I will definitely be back.

Awesome people running this campground. They make sure everything is right. We came in to ride the bicycle trail - trail was ok-typical rail trail. Id run the Chiefland end so we hit this on the way to Tallahassee. 34 miles from the campground to Trenton and back.

I love it here! Moved in a week before Aug 1, 2021. David and Kari, the owners, along with son, Kyle and DIL Savannah have been the most helpful, kind, caring people! Including Mr. Dave the Maintenance man!! They all go the extra mile to help all the residents of the park. The lots are spacious and landscaped with native plants, flowers and gorgeous old Spanish moss hung oak trees which are a blessing in the Florida sun! The office, game room/ pub and pool are kept clean and there is always something going on for us to take part in. There are food items for purchase and beverages / ice cream and other treats. The guys are always mowing, blowing leaves, hauling trash and leaves etc so it always looks good. This has a beachy relaxed “ 5 O’Clock Somewhere” vibe! Highly recommend for long or short stays!

We stayed here Month of Feb 2023. It is a great place to set up camp. The owners are the best we have ever met. The camp ground area is small, which is nice. The mobile home area is set behind. They have a great little bar with pool tables, darts and shuffle board! The laundry room is also the best we have had in this trip. 5 or 6 washers and 4 large dryers. The only reason I did not rate a 5...is the very nice pool w/ deck was not heated. You would have to be a Polar bear to enter. And the location is a bit too far North for the adventures we like to do. Also.... the Wifi is basically non existent. Being business owners....we rely on Wifi. Other wise...For the minimal price they charge.... it is a fantastic place to stay!
