Crash and Burn

Absolute gem of a camping spot! Super quiet and secluded. Just know that it gets super windy at night and super hot during the day. No mosquitos but there are gnats and horseflies. Gorgeous scenery and tons of wildife to see.

Parking lot for cars and trucks, no trailers or RVs; tent sites only. Paved areas to bathrooms. Paved areas to some picnic sites and some campground sites. Handicap parking. Overnight camping sites have picnic tables, fire pits, and tent area. Some sites have some tree coverage and some are full sun. The campsites are fee areas. This is not a boat launch for large motorized boats, but those you can hand launch.

Right across from scenic view of the Columbia river and wild horse monument this is an amazing spot to sit back and relax with amazing amazing water views. There are a few picnic tables, found them to be in good shape. Even though there was an open fire pit there was a burn ban when we went. The only downside is the picnic tables are hidden behind the bushes a little, so your view of the water is obstructed, we didn't mind it but YMMV.

Awesome quiet camp area. There's another Grant PUD campsite across the river at Sand Hollow, larger but exposed and closer to the highway. Both close enough to use for shows at the Gorge.

Winds can pick up, especially at sundown. A couple sites have shrubs/short trees for shade, but summer sun can be intense. Appears a fire went through in 2021 or 2022, so some of the ground is charred — extinguish those embers!

Lake access is meh, bathrooms are pit toilets. Large sheltered picnic area. Each site has a fire pit, but summertime restrictions are common.

Did wake up to a large (50+) herd of antelope that went to the shore for sips of water.

Nice and clean an easy way to get to the river but if you’re arachnophobia, you might not want to get too close to the trees by the water. They’re just orb spiders but they can look intimidating.
