About Campground

A Northwest Forest Pass is required for parking/access to Pete Lake.

This very popular eastside lake is an easy flat 4 mile hike and well suited for families. Early in the season there are several water crossings that could prove a bit difficult for little ones. The trail is also popular with equestrians, and the plentiful campsites fill up fast on a weekend. Most of the shoreline is shallow, making shore fishing a bit challenging but still productive for Eastern Brook Trout of varying sizes. A nice view of the surrounding mountains can be seen from the lake.

Directions

From I-90 take the Roslyn/Salmon La Sac exit #80 and follow the road ~ 17.5 miles past Lake Cle Elum. Take a left across the bridge over the river onto paved Road #46; at ~ 4 miles take a right at the Cooper Lake sign (unpaved) and drive a further 2 miles past the Owhi Campground to the end of the road and the trailhead #1323 - horse trailer parking also available. 9m r/t, 400' gain.

Nice lake for easy backpack destination. Lots of camping spots available. More mosquitoes on trail than I expected given the time of year and weather.

One of my favorite places in the world. It's been a family gathering place for four generations. The hike in from the parking lot is on an easy, beautiful winding trail through an idyllic forest. Camping sites are flat and plentiful. Always remember to leave no trace!

Me and the boy scouts went out there as a troop and we camped on the edge of a cliff. It was very fun. The best part was even though the scout master apparently said not to swim in the water. I'll look down and all my buddies were splashed and playing around and I did it too. My dad said we were all playing in the water and he looked up and saw scoutmaster. Rob, look up, take a deep breath and then continue walking. It was amazing

A lovely spot to stop on the way up to PCT or for an easy overnight backpack. The views are amazing and lake is absolutely stunning. Stayed overnight and it is an amazing spot to stargaze! If you love the outdoors, this will be a great spot to visit!
