About Campground

The 1,125-acre Caledonia State Park is in Adams and Franklin counties, midway between Chambersburg and Gettysburg along the Lincoln Highway, US 30.

The park is nestled within South Mountain, the northern terminus of the well-known Blue Ridge Mountain of Maryland and Virginia. Within South Mountain there are four state parks and 84,000 acres of state forest land waiting to be explored and enjoyed. The soils on either side of South Mountain are ideal for fruit production, proven by the abundance of orchards in the surrounding area.

Directions

Caledonia is at the intersection of US 30 and PA 233.

From Chambersburg, follow US 30 east 11 miles to the park.

From Gettysburg, follow US 30 west 15 miles to the park.

From Harrisburg, follow I-81 53 miles to Chambersburg, then 7.3 miles east on US 30.

Love Caledonia, very relaxing, you can go for a hike, swim in the pool or creek, kids have playgrounds too. Great place to send a day with family or yourself

If you're hiking the Appalachian trail, Caledonia is an oasis. Take a moment to cool off in the shallow river, or even pay to go into the pool (real shower and bathroom included!). Continuing northbound on the AP will bring you to the nicest shelter on the entire trail (IMO). If you can make the additional six miles past the rocky mountain shelter, do it. Caledonia itself has camp sites with hot showers if you want to detour a little off the trail for the day.

Wonderful place to camp. It's pet friendly and peaceful! The sites are spacious and the bathrooms are clean! It was a great place to stay and wonder into Gettysburg!

Because of activities in Gettysburg I didn't explore as much as I'd like but I enjoyed what I could of the experience and will definitely go again. Both camping and day use activities are available. Plenty of picnic tables can be found. The restroom I used at the camping area was clean. There is an outdoor pool with a slide but I didn't use it. I did see trout in the creek but I didn't fish it. A lot of woodland features with trails.

This place is amazing and beautiful! Plenty of picnic areas along the river side. They have stashed painted rocks throughout the river for kids ro find. Fishing, pool, and hiking trails! The beautiful touches they added to the park is picture perfect. If ur looking for a day of nature this is a spot to make a favorite.
