We have been traveling for the past four months and stayed in more than 70 campgrounds in the US and Canada. When choosing an unfamiliar campground, we are particular about checking the reviews before stopping there. We’ve stayed at Western Village many times in the past years of travel so we didn’t bother. BIG MISTAKE! We would have seen how unhappy other campers are here. We called ahead and made a reservation for just one night. Kelly asked which site we had been on previously and we told her. She stated that site was available and put us on that one. On arrival, we checked in with Kelly and proceeded to the site to find it was already occupied. We called the office. Most campgrounds do a “site check” after departure time to ensure the sites are vacant and clean but apparently this campground no longer does so. Kelly stated someone would be right out to speak with the occupant. We pulled down the road to try to get out of other arrivals’ way. We waited for an hour and a half; no one from the office called us to let us know what was going on or approached us to inform. We called the office since our site was still occupied and were told we had been told to go to a different site. Not sure who was told that but it wasn’t us. When we went to the office to demand a refund, we were told the occupant had paid for a late check-out. Miscommunication?? Poor management is what we think. We won’t return to Western Village again.

My wife and I live only 10 minutes from Western Village. In spite of having had motorhomes for more than a decade, we had never stayed there simply because we never considered it a destination due to its proximity. We had a friend booked to play live music at the park on Sunday before Labor Day so we booked it. The park was crowded and the sites are a little tight, but everyone was friendly, and we had a fun night. The bathrooms are extremely clean. On Monday, Labor Day, many went home. The park became much more roomy and a lot quieter. It was hot and we went to the pool. Their pool is fantastic. It is a salt water pool and we fell in love with it. For most of the day we had it entirely to ourselves. We were scheduled to leave on Tuesday. We extended our stay 2 additional days. It's worth a stay should you find yourselves in the area. Thanks to all the staff for a great visit. We will be back.
