Our stay at the cougar crest house was absolutely stunning and comfortable. We were first greeted by Jackie, the white dog who was so sweet and friendly, it was a great welcome considering we got there after 5pm and picked up our house key on the outside of the office since it was closed. The accommodations were just as pictures showed, the kitchen was well stocked with all pots, pans, wine glasses and all essentials for cooking. The beds were comfortable with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The bathrooms were clean and had plenty of extra towels. The washer and dryer worked well as we had laundry to do, the staff even gives you pods of detergent and dryer sheets which were beyond appreciated! The outside views were just incredible and we enjoyed drinking coffee in the morning and wine at night time just looking at the mountains. Jackie came by nightly and also scratched and whimpered at the door making me (animal lover) feel terrible for not letting her spend the night inside. I was told by the staff that she is indeed NOT allowed in the house but tries to trick you! Funny girl. We loved it here and will no doubt recommend to family and friends.
What a gem! We were introduced to this beautiful Inn by a stroke of good fortune…and gosh! We were treated like royalty❤️Homemade chocolate chip cookies on arrival, a rustic cabin that was full of history and antiques, super comfortable beds, gas-lit fireplace, and handmade soaps that made my skin feel like velvet! I can just imagine having a family reunion here! Thank you, Kris, for your genuine hospitality and understanding…helping us to make lemonade from lemons after our attempted stay at another lodge in the area😇
We stayed in the Cougar Crest cabin, which served us very well. It had nice separation between bedroom suites and a large living area. We used its good kitchen, small charcoal grill, and laundry machines. There is a small playground in the back, a picnic table that seats about 12 and other seating, and a great view of the mountains. There are window air conditioning units that did a fine job during the hot August nights. We walked down to the pasture to see the cows, and to the river nearby. There is no mowed or open sitting area at the river, but that was fine.
I had a nice experience at Ovenell's. It is tucked away and quiet with its individual cabins, assuming you do not have noisy neighbors. I found it very convenient to have a kitchenette given the lack of restaurant selection nearby but there is a decent grocery store in town. My visit was quiet and the bed was comfortable. They accommodated my late check-in and check-out was a snap. I would definitely consider staying here again if I am in the area.
We loved our stay in the Woodsman cabin! Relaxing on the front porch in the evening was wonderful. The cabin had everything we needed to make our own meals. The ranch itself is beautiful and we will plan to have a camp fire on their private river beach next time. It was a reasonable drive to the most popular hikes in North Cascade national park and very close to Mt. Baker.
