This rustic campground in the Maury Mountains surrounds Wiley Creek, which is a shallow, narrow body of water ending at the small meadow within the perimeter of the camp. It is not uncommon to see horseback riders stopping for a noon break from a local outfitter guide service.
From Prineville, Oregon: Take Highway 380 southeast toward Paulina. Travel approximately 32 miles to the third bridge. Turn south onto Forest Service Road 16. Follow Forest Service Road 16 approximately 12 miles to the Wiley Flat sign. Then turn right onto Forest Service Road 16-400. Make sure to stay left at the large ponderosa that seems to be in the middle of the road and continue for less than 1/2 mile to the actual campground.
Awesome campsite! There's a pit toilet on site. Bring your own water.
Tiny Wiley Creek runs through the middle of this campground (non-potable). This is an ideal spot for those who like remote settings. Two of the 5 campsites are large and frequently used. The other three not so much. It was quiet there, some birds, chipmunks and butterflies were my only company. A beautiful pine and fir forest. Bring your own water. Pack out your trash.
