About Campground

THE SITE IS CLOSED FOR THE 2019 CAMPING SEASON Overview: Step off the beaten path and explore a delightful gem nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains with ties to the historic Bohemia Mining District, 40 miles southeast of Cottage Grove. The site offers an intimate, 10-unit campground, day-use picnicking area, and a nearby swimming hole formed naturally among rounded boulders at the base of an overlook extending above Sharps Creek. Cool and delightful waters entice the visitor to swim or simply 'dabble' along the bank while enjoying the surrounding beauty of the forest. For those with a penchant for gold panning, the site offers exciting opportunities to try one's skill and luck! Know Before You Go: The campground is open Memorial Day weekend through early fall. Fees are charged for campground use; day use at the creek overlook and swimming area is available at no charge. Recreational panning is allowed June 1 through September 15. Sluicing and suction dredging with hoses (4" diameter or less) is allowed July 1 through September 1 provided that the activity does not interfere with other recreational activities. Contact the BLM Springfield Interagency Office for more information regarding panning restrictions. Point of Interest: The Row River National Recreation Trail/Covered Bridges State Scenic Bikeway is located less than 4 miles northwest of Sharps Creek Recreation Site.
