Packard Creek Day Use Area is situated on a large flat beside Hills Creek Reservoir within the Packard Creek Campground. There is handicap parking at the boat ramp/swimming areas. The swimming area has a log-boom around it and has buoys set around it reminding boaters to slow down. Boaters are reminded that the speed limit around the swimming area and boat ramp is 5 M.P.H. There is a mix of vegetation in the campground which includes an abundant supply of Poison Oak.

Great year round fishing and boating, easy access with adjacent campground (each campsite has it's own River access, great for a day or an extended stay.
The reservoir seems to be perpetually drained in the summer, exposing the bear sides of the lake creating quite the ugly vista. Additionally, swimming is unpleasant due to the muddy and steep shore. The outhouses really stink up the joint too, especially if it's over 80 out. Camp host was a stickler when I was there and they force you to pay fees within 30 mins of arrival, very strange.
This campground used to be very nice, but until they refill the reservoir (which will be left to mother nature to sort out so god knows how long it will take) I don't see any point in even stopping for a picnic, there are better places up the river.
