About Campground

Nestled on the banks of the McKenzie River and Olallie Creek, Olallie Campground provides a superb setting for a getaway into nature. The lower loop offers mesmerizing views of both the river and the creek while the upper loop is set further in the trees with many sites facing the creek. The McKenzie River is a tributary of the Willamette River that runs for 90 miles, flowing into the southernmost end of the Willamette Valley. Recreation Fishing, rafting and swimming are three top activities in the river. A day use picnic area is also available at the campground. Nearby is the 26 mile McKenzie River National Recreation Trail, which provides access to world class mountain biking and hiking. Facilities This campground has 16 sites divided into two loops along the eastern banks of the river by Olallie Creek. No electric hookups are available at the campground. Picnic tables, vault toilets and drinking water are among the amenities available. A camp host is on-site, and firewood is available for purchase. Natural Features Olallie Campground is located in the midsection of the Cascades mountain range in western Oregon. All campgrounds are nicely shaded by Douglas fir, maple and alder. The Willamette National Forest stretches for 110 miles with varied landscapes of high mountains, narrow canyons, cascading streams, and wooded slopes. ADA Access: N

Olallie Campground is beautiful. This camping stay was disappointing. When we arrived the extra trash outside of the dumpster had obviously attracted animals that scattered it. The next day the garbage company picked up the dumpster full and the loose bags. It’s not their job to clean it up. But the host or a maintenance person should have cleaned it up. It took 2 more days after the dumpster got emptied to get it cleaned up. But even as cleaned up as it was, it still left shreds of paper all around (I didn’t get a pic of the bits of paper all around) I didn’t have a broom or rake to clean it up. I felt bad for the campers that were camped near the trash. It was gross.

This was the best campground! The sites right next to the river are amazing. You can explore and relax. Beautiful!

$48 for two nights. reservation done via recreation website. sits at 2k elevation. upper level and lower level. site 10 shares inital driveway with site 9 and then separates. plenty of room for a tent. picnic table and fire pit provided. vault toilets. no water. there are a couple pull thru sites on upper level. day use spot. campground host onsite. $7 for a bundle of wood or four bundles for $25. noise of Olallie River drowns out road traffic and is soothing. Lower level is on McKenzie River and Olallie River flows into it. Plenty of tree cover at all the sites.

A very peaceful campground. The lower level is the best as it is closest to the river and farthest from the road. There is only one water pump in the campground, so bring a large jug to store your water. At night, the road is hardly busy and doesn’t cause that much of a disturbance. Most sites seemed pretty spacious. My site had room for four tents, two of which were fairly large. I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely go again.

We stayed here mid-week and it was so quiet! The campground was clean and the bathroom was maintained well. The river was next to us at site 8 and 9 and it was beautiful to listen to at all times. I would give it 5 stars, but it was the dustiest place I've stayed. Just walking filled the air with dust.
