From Blue River, OR, travel 4 miles east on Highway 126 and turn right onto Forest Road 19 (Aufderheide). Continue right at the Y junction for 3 miles to the top of Cougar Reservoir. At the reservoir, continue south on Forest Road 19 for 26 miles and turn right (west) into Box Canyon Horse Camp and Box Canyon Trailhead by the water troughs.
Neat experience. Old fashioned roughing it type cabin. No running water,toilet internet, or radio stations.VERY QUITE!
Very sweet spot, easy to find, easy to get to (no crazy forest roads). Quiet, and really just a lovely rustic cabin experience.
The box canyon guard station is available for rent and well worth price. It is in an area where you can do many things from mountain biking to hiking into one of many high lakes for the day! Many of the high lakes in the area are loaded with some of the best fish you can eat.
The interior of the cabin is amazing with a fresh remodel of Oregon pine from floor to ceiling! If you are looking for a getaway and a very peaceful location then check this place out!!
