Located in a dynamic landscape setting shaped by fire, this 22 site camground is situated on a terrace above Fall Creek where the hillsides surrounding the camp offer an impressive fireweed bloom display during the summer months. Expect heavy use on summer weekends from visitors escaping high temperatures in nearby urban areas.
From Lowell, Oregon: Beginning at the Lowell Junior/Senior High School at 65 South Pioneer St, head north for 0.1 mile. Turn left at the 2nd cross street onto North Shore Drive. Drive for another 0.1 mile and turn right at the first cross street, which is South Moss Street. In approximately 0.8 miles, South Moss Street becomes the Jasper-Lowell Road. Continue for another 1.0 mile until the four-way stop. Turn right onto Big Fall Creek Road. Approaching the base of the Fall Creek Lake dam, bear to the left after passing Winberry Creek Road (on your right). Note that Big Fall Creek Road becomes Forest Road 18 after crossing the National Forest boundary. Travel for 14.5 miles from the four-way stop and the destination will be on your left.
Great place up Fall Creek to dip-in for a refreshing swim. Just a quick drive from the hustle-bustle of the Eugene/Springfield metro. The creek abuts Bedrock campground so you need to park either in the day-use parking area or in one of the turnouts around the area and then make a short hike there. You are not allowed to park in the campground without renting a campsite. On hot summer weekends this place will be busy so be prepared to be around other people.
People adore this area because the creek is deep and slow-flowing, perfect for swimming and diving. Please remember to respect this little slice of heaven and dispose of all trash in a responsible manner. Don't be 'that person'.
The campground itself is closed as of summer 2018, but the swimming is still accessible and ad fun as ever! I love that there is a good.mix of shallow and deep swimming for all levels. It can be a bit crowded on a hot day, but still worth it to me. Come in by the short (3 min walk) path across the highway from the parking area for an easier walk without having to climb down a steep bank.
Very nice area to camp. There is a rope to help assist you down to the water. Swimmers of all levels can find a decent spot to get into the water here.
Great campground with many sites to choose from. Great swimming area visited by campers and day use folks. Pit Toilets in campground, but no running water available. This campground doesn’t have onsite Hosts and so it isn’t uncommon for groups of campers to play music late into the night. My experience has been that other campers are polite and the campground is fairly clean. No cell service available and no firewood sold within the campground. Lots of trails & creeks nearby.
