The Old Faithful Inn, built in 1903 and a member of Historic Hotels of America® since 2012 was designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark in 1987. The room was very old and in need of an update, but our main frustration was the lack of food. Given the lodge is in the middle of the park and no where near anything, I would have expected food options available at the hotel. But the options were so limited which meant you couldn't get a reservation. In the morning we ate breakfast at the cafe and it was a very poor standard. Given the cost of this hotel I would expect far better. Such a shame as it has so much potential given the beauty of the main lodge and the location. But certainly can't recommend.
Great old time rustic log cabin inn. This lodging more than the others I stayed at in Yellowstone really takes you back in time (Please Note: no WiFi). You can imagine seeing Teddy Roosevelt himself walking the halls.
The evening ritual of sitting around the open area facing your fellow travelers while listening to live music is equally amusing to observe as it is to partake. Staying here is truly an experience.
An amazing place. I've heard others seeing it for the first time and can't believe how huge and beautiful the place is. The stone fireplace with a clock. Two floors overlooking the lobby after coming from your room from each wing. An upper deck outside of the second floor to watch Old Faithful and sunrise. Yes there are 2 places to eat, a bar and a gift shop.
We stayed here in May 2023, very early in the season. The history and nostalgic factor are definitely worth it.
Rooms are smaller than average, but your staying in a historic hotel.
We stayed in the Old house, which were the first rooms opened in the Inn, there is no I room bathroom, but there are shared bathroom and showers.
Things were very clean, they have a free historic tour of the inn, which was very interesting and made the stay even more enjoyable.
I have not stayed here but took a tour of this place when I visited the park.
The Old Faithful Inn is a true gem within Yellowstone National Park, offering visitors a unique and unforgettable lodging experience. This historic lodge, dating back to 1904, combines rustic charm with breathtaking natural surroundings to create an enchanting atmosphere.
Upon arrival, you're immediately struck by the inn's impressive architecture, featuring a massive log structure with towering ceilings and a grand stone fireplace in the lobby. The scent of aged timber and the crackling of the fire evoke a sense of nostalgia, transporting you to a bygone era of wilderness exploration.
In the tour, I got a glimpse of some of the rooms, they are all designed with a rustic aesthetic that complements the park's surroundings. While the rooms may not offer modern luxuries like flat-screen TVs or air conditioning, they provide a genuine sense of immersion in the natural world of Yellowstone.
One of the inn's most cherished features is the spectacular view it offers of Old Faithful Geyser. Many rooms and the lobby provide front-row seats to the geyser's regular eruptions, allowing guests to witness this geological wonder from the comfort of their lodgings.
It's worth noting that, due to its popularity, securing reservations at the Old Faithful Inn can be a challenge, especially during peak tourist seasons. However, the experience is well worth the effort, offering a true taste of history and the wilderness that defines Yellowstone National Park.
In conclusion, the Old Faithful Inn is a historic treasure nestled within one of America's most iconic national parks. It offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the park's natural beauty while enjoying the rustic charm of a bygone era. If you're seeking an unforgettable lodging experience in Yellowstone, this inn should be at the top of your list.
