The Travelin' Kind

Beautiful park & super kind staff. Lots to do. Plenty of trails, fishing, swimming, disc golf, beautiful sunrise & sunset watching, plenty of wildlife, lots to explore, etc. We camped in the Otter Creek campground & I cannot recommend it enough! We loved this park & definitely recommend. Dog friendly, keep them on a leash. Clean facilities. The showers are not free, if you did not come prepared with quarters there is a change machine directly outside of the showers.

Visited July 8th, 2023 for a day hike. Most hiking trails were not well marked or maintained. The few we found, the trail ended a short distance from the trail head. Finally discovered the trail head on the east area, unfortunately also found a huge red ant hill and poison ivy so we didn't go much further.

Very clean park, well taken care of. Our only issue is that the bathrooms/showers are both in the RV parks. RVs already have bathrooms and showers. It’s the tent campers that need them but you have to walk a long ways either direction to get to a bathroom. Not very helpful at night or when you have kids.

Also, you have to pay for showers. It’s not much- .50/3 minutes- but still, you’re paying to use the park, should we pay for showers?

The hiking trail was beautiful but not very well marked. We started on one track hoping to loop around and end at our van. We ended up at a road and had a 20 minute walk to where we were parked. It was a bummer bc we thought we were on a trail that would take us to the top of the mountain.

This state park is very well kept. As a single mom of three I felt safe here. The restrooms were also well kept and the staff at the office were very friendly. My campsite had a grill, bonfire pit and a covered picnic table. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous and pictures don't do justice. If you're thinking about camping, this is a wonderful place!
