I skate down the trail here fairly often. It's a nice area for the most part, and there's a cute playground near the entrance for the kids. During the summer I think they open up a carousel and some other fun amenities too! Lots of nice short little walking paths if you go straight back from the Cherokee St entrance, pavilions, grass, and tons of parking. The bike path runs alongside the river/creek, has lots of good shady spots, and the pavement is smooth enough for my inlines to handle well. Only complaint is that it runs right by a sewage treatment plant during one section of the path aha (didn't have any pics of the playground or other areas, but I find guys like this turtle, small snakes, frogs, and even a family of baby racoons once, all the time here!)
Enjoyed a beautiful family ride through Fantasyland this evening. What a spectacular display of lights that remind me of Oklahoma. I’m from Pennsylvania but spend 2-3 times a year visiting. You should be proud to present that to the communities and families here! Well done!
Have visited Johnston Park, more times than I can count in the last 65 years, pictured is the Nellie Johnston, the the first Commercial Oil well in Oklahoma, also in the spring and summer, there is a small carnival type, area we call the Kiddy Park, featuring a Small Farris Wheel, Merry-go-round, Roller Coaster, and several other small rides for the youngsters.
