About Campground

There are 14 individual campsites and 2 group campsites available at this location. Two vault toilets and trash cans are located within the campground. All sites have a table, grill/fire ring, lantern post and camping pad. These sites are suitable for either tents or RV's. There is no water or electrical hook-ups at this location. We recommend you bring a cookstove for cooking meals. This is a very rustic campground. Opportunities for hunting and hiking are available. A 3/4-mile trail leads from the campground to the Uwharrie Trail, a 20-mile National Recreational Trail. A small country store is located about 3 miles away in the small community called Eldorado. This store is north of the intersection of Ophir Road and NC Hwy 109N.

Directions

From Hwy 109, at the community of Uwharrie, take Ophir Road (SR 1134). Go approximately 2 miles and West Morris Mountain Campground is on the right.

Great for anyone who wants to really camp. Its off the beaten trail. Very spacious! Camp sites arent on top of eachother like at the other surrounding ones. No electricity or wate but there are bathrooms-like I said camping camping. Great trails, 5 min from Badin Lake, great trails. Its just an overall wonderful way to reconnect with nature ans unplug for a bit. We will def be back

Exploring Woodsman

The GOOD: The campsites are situated along a winding road; you can barely see the neighboring campsites. The sites are perfectly wooded with plenty of a shade.

The BAD: The few available sites that I looked at upon my arrival were not well suited for a tent because the designated space for a tent is not level. You'd be better off sleeping on the flat-level picnic table.

The UGLY: The vaulted toilets are 100% disgusting. Actually, the people who defecate on the side of the toilet are disgusting swines. Apparently, the facilities have missed a few cleaning cycles. AND, the vaulted toilet exterior (building) is in need of repair...see attached picture. I wonder if there are snakes (egads!) in those deteriorating walls?!

Nice secluded space to be with family and friends for a weekend. Make sure to come prepared and aware of the surroundings.
