What a peaceful stretch of greenery right in the middle of Harlem. Don’t let the map fool you, this park has lots of steps and will get your sweat on. The only reason I give it a 4 is because it’s not accessible for those who cannot use the stairs.
A great park regardless of the season! A dog park, great views of the beautiful " City College", Alexander Hamilton's yellow home offer a great contrast during the winter months. Lot's of stairs and hills offer a great run for person or dog!!
This park, situated in the middle of Harlem in a historically significant district, is surrounded by pre-war residential buildings and the CUNY campus. The walkways are paved and ideal for walking or running. The topography of the park is unique, with various levels connected by walkways and stairways to keep a walk in the park from getting monotonous. Since it’s not in the most fashionable part of town, it is much less crowded than parks further down south. In the spring and summer seasons the trees provide enough of a canopy to enjoy the lawns.
On the flip side, the park isn’t the safest to walk in after sundown, and maintenance is also less than ideal in terms of litter removal and undergrowth vegetation management.
I celebrated my dear friends birthday . He turned 40 and all of us are artists so we ate, danced, and lifted him up. I did not know it would lift me up too. The sun shined brightly over us all.
Lovely park with a dog run. Never too busy, except on some very nice days in the summer. It's relatively well maintained, but there has been some construction going on in one section for more than half a year.
Lots of volunteer work, though, which helps keep the park looking nice.
