So beautiful! I went to three lakes while in new Mexico, and this one was my favorite! Fishing, camping, the sunsets we're beautiful and there's so many elk!! I loved spending the weekend camping here!

Nice, well-maintained facility. Hosts Walt and Roxanne are friendly and helpful. Very sparingly used, since no hookups. Tent and trailer/mobile spaces. Probably 50 total sites, plus adjoining group sites. But, and this is a big but, Quemado lake is dying. Down about 20 feet. No intake. Many dead fish. Lake stunk badly. Our friends went to kyack and were disgusted by the conditions; I tried fishing with same results. Biologists trying to determine solution. If you are going for the lake, forget it for the near term.

We stayed there for 4 nights. The lot that we were on was spacious! The camp host was a very nice lady! I enjoyed her company when she came around to check n see if everything was going well with us. Great hospitality, even for the outdoors! The only thing was that none of their water wells were working. But its understandable, it is the outdoors. Bring lots of water to wash with and to drink! Definitely be heading there again!

No camp host available all throughout our four-day stay. The larger group that was next to us partied all night till about 2 in the morning no Campo stranger to quiet them down on our last night. We also had to take care of her own trash and clean our own fire pit upon arrival.

Pinon campground at quemado lake is a beautiful place. Our space overlooked the lake so we could see ospreys fishing and in the afternoon, the lake sparkled. At night we could hear the elk bugging back and forth. An incredible experience.
