So beautiful and refreshing. Water is cold to swim in even at the peak of the hottest summer day. Cliff diving is abundant. Water is crystal clear. Very challenging to get to down a steep cliff, not ideal for most dogs but we somehow managed to carry or medium sized one down. Discover pass required but money goes to the parks 😊 👍🏼 No signal much of the way coming from Washougal. Busy in summer and not much of the year. Unfortunately some people play their music too loud and take up a lot of space but most people are polite.
Look elsewhere! There is plenty of free swimming nearby in even prettier areas. This is a beautiful spot but it is privately owned, they ruined it by charging $13 for a parking pass, and they offer no information about where to get a parking pass. It’s obvious that they are hoping people don’t pay for it so that they can charge a $140 fee if you don’t have one. They also don’t maintain the “trail” down to the water so it’s just a steep climb that many people will have trouble with. It is DEFINITELY not accessible for people with any kind of mobility challenges, it is dangerous. Whoever owns this land is greedy and making it harder for people who just want to enjoy the beautiful river and area.
An employee of theirs wrote an angry note on my friends car saying that their license plate was “fake” and threatening to “investigate” them. They also said “we don’t welcome criminals here”. I don’t know if this person lives under a rock or something, but the plate was obviously a perfectly legal and REAL temporary plate for a new car. Between this hostility and incompetence, and the underhanded parking system, my friends and I won’t be coming back to this place. Which sucks, because it is such a pretty area and fun to jump in the river. Way to welcome visitors to the area guys, nice going.
My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed this spot! Heads up you need a parking permit (available at Washougal Mercantile for $13) - that’s my one true gripe. Wear shoes with some grip, come ready to climb, and enjoy!
Great spot on hot days. Water stays relatively cool - cold.
Try and get there before 10am for a good spot.
Ok, so I didn’t swim here 🫣. I only parked and viewed it from above. It’s super pretty and the water is safe to swim in. However, the climb down is very risky and can definitely cause some injuries if you make a wrong step. If you come to visit and go for a swim I recommend you go with a friend or two. No small kids!!
⚠️You do need some type of parking permit
