Two additional drive-up, accessible camping sites are available on a first come, first served basis. The sites are located off of Morgan Hill Road, in close proximity to the forest's accessible trail. See map above and directions below.
The Spruce Pond camping area and the two drive-up accessible camping sites are located on seasonal roads with no winter maintenance or available parking nearby. Accessing these sites from November through March is not recommended.
Primitive camping is welcomed year-round throughout the forest, where safe and authorized access and parking allows. Campsites must be at least 150 feet away from the nearest road, trail, or body of water. Camping for more than three nights or in groups of ten or more requires a permit from a Forest Ranger.
Took molly camping at one of our favorite spots the lean to ! Molly turned into Dora the explorer never wanting to go back to camp! I finally got her to turn back to camp by the offer of her favorite food!
A very underrated state forest as many people I know have never heard of it. Excellent place to hunt deer and turkey. Miles of hiking trails and a connecting spot for the NCT and fingerlakes trail as well. A nice trout pond too for fishing.
This place is a little gem. Great for a day hike or an overnight. It's for hikers only, no bikes according to the signs. A take in, take out area. Be kind and leave no trace besides footprints.
The Morgan Hill State Forest is a great place to get out into nature and enjoy the fingerlakes trail system. Public fishing for rainbow & brook trout is available at Spruce pond. Hiking from there on the North Country Trail will lead you to the Jones Hill Vista overlooking the Labrador Hollow Unique Area, and ultimately downhill to Tinker Falls. The boardwalk at Labrador Hollow Unique area is also worth a visit.
Great forest for a simple drive through, stop and barbeque (safely) with a lot of camping spots that I am dying to try out! Great place to set up a few chairs and enjoy the sounds of the forest, fresh air, etc.
