About Campground

Located 50 miles from midtown Manhattan (approx 1:08 minutes) is our brand new campground located right off the Appalachian Trail. The camp is at the base of Wawayanda mountain right between the iconic hikes "Stairway to Heaven" and "Pochuck Boardwalk" on the Appalachian Trail. Hike right from camp up to "Pinwheel Vista" (named one of NJ's best viewpoints!)

At the entrance to the property is the Valley Farmers Cooperative that sells local grass fed meats and artisanal farm goods. You can walk two minutes to Heaven Hill Farm which has plenty of goods, produce, and fun fall activities like pumpkin picking and haunted hayrides. Drive your car from route 94 directly to your campsite nestled in the woods with a great view of the valley. A perfect getaway from the city with plenty to offer.

About 10 minutes down 94 is the beautiful town of Warwick or about 4 minutes in the opposite direction is the town of Vernon. Warwick is a quaint small town with plenty of great restaurants and bars, and famous for its apple picking. Vernon has plenty to offer as well including the popular ski resort/waterpark Mountain Creek and Minerals Spa (Located just under 10 minutes away.)

The quiet charm of Wawayanda State Park appeals to hikers, campers, swimmers and boaters. Forested hills surround Lake Wawayanda creating a restful backdrop for canoeists and fisherman, while steep mountains challenge casual as well as serious hikers. A twenty-mile stretch of Appalachian Trail runs through the park, while the top of Wawayanda Mountain offers sensational views. More than sixty miles of trails are marked in the park.

As a first time camper, I would highly recommend camping this way. Firstly, Dominic is an amazing host, he keeps his camp site clean and is very responsive to texts about activities, tips on the best nearby restaurants, etc.. secondly, Tentrr has a great setup, with a solidly built ‘glamping’ tent that was super comfortable. Would I have loved an attached toilet, sure, but I think that’s what’s different about camping, it pushes you to have a different, and unique experience than your mundane hotel stay. We took a second pop-up tent for the kids, who wanted to sleep on their inflatable beds and sleeping bags… it made of an amazing family bonding weekend. I highly recommend it!

The experience was great, pure nature, the sound of goats nearby, deer and raccoons was wonderful for the kids. We set up the tents which made it more exciting. Will definitely go there again.

Had the most incredible time! Everything was perfectly set up, clean, and Dominic is a great and helpful host. Very easy to get to, and close to local markets and town. The view and surrounding area is breathtaking, and there are lots to hike and explore. We stayed during the fall, which was perfect for seeing the colorful foliage. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a perfect cozy, nature filled getaway. Can't wait to visit again!

My wife and I got married at the top of Mt. Wawayanda, "Pinwheel Vista" and we stayed at Moon Valley Campground for our anniversary hike back up the mountain. It was an amazing experience all-around. It's in such an awesome location, within walking distance of a nice local farm store with food and wine and also a short walk to the Appalachian Trail. Be sure to do the "stairway to heaven" hike, great views at the summit. Dominic was super informative and helpful the entire trip. We will definitely be back

We had the most wonderful time camping this weekend. The view was spectacular! The location of the hilltop hideaway campsite was perfect, it was extremely clean, private and secluded. There are other campsites nearby, but they are far enough away where you don't even know they are there. The tent was very clean and there was enough room for us to put sleeping bags on the floor as well to fit a total of six people in the tent. Be sure to bring a pop up canopy to go over the picnic table in case it rains. We had our own and it saved us the one day it rained. We will absolutely be back again, and be sure to tell our friends. The tent was very clean and there was enough room for us to put sleeping bags on the floor as well. Even though the site came with a grill we cooked over the camp fire instead. The fire pit came with a swivel grill, which was perfect for cooking on. We will absolutely be back again, and be sure to recommend to our friends
