It was an incredible weekend at Glen Gray. It is the only place I know that has cabin camping in the winter near the NY/NJ area. We needed a place for 18 people and it was simple, clean and much better than I expected. You guys deserve a five star rating!
Former Boy Scout camp now under county auspices, green acre funds, and administered by very loyal Friends of Glen Gray. Very historic. George Washington hauled cannon ammunition along the Cannonball trail, still marked for historic hikes. Good sized lake multiple cabins and space for tent camping. Be careful driving in and out as road about 1 1/2 lanes wide. Been there many times over the years.
This is a great camp. Formerly a Scout camp, now owned by the county and operated by the Friends of Glen Gray, it's in great shape with a variety of camping facilities available. Adjacent to superb hiking in the Ramapo Mountains. Open to all. You will need to carry your gear to your site. Pack accordingly, or pay the modest portage fee.
Our Boy Scout troop came here. There were very kind staff and nice woods near by which reminded us of the real world outside of our electronics. The cabins were nice and cozy and very rustic. On behalf of me and our troop I recommend this camping spot for you.
I love the space, the cabins are great for big groups. The weekends with the cub scouts here are always an adventure. I can't wait to come back next season and teach the boys to fish!
