Camp on the Madison river. Watch Raptors and other birds, explore back roads. Water available in campground. No trailer hook ups. Best time to find a site during Covid is Tuesday or Wednesday morning.

One of the semi-primitive campsites along the Madison River. I'd rate it higher except that if you're there to fish, you'll have a hard time from shore though there are several spots worth fishing if you're in a boat. The campground sits out in a clear area with few trees around the sites. The sites are plenty spacious with two restroom buildings. There is a warning sign to be "Bear Aware" and each site is equipped with a bear proof box to secure food stuffs. But the area really doesn't get much bear traffic. The area is truly wide open and you'd see them coming for several hundred yards. $18 per night or $12 per night with an active Montana fishing license.
