I-94 Exit 36, north to Frontage road, then 2 miles east.
Quiet site right on the yellow stone river. Enough sites for 7-8 RVs and car campers. I camped with a motorcycle and tent for one night as I was on a time table. It was a very pleasant experience and I would like to re-visit when I'm in the area.
There is a employee of the Parks and Recreation dept that lives nearby. He stops by in the late evening and offers cut up wooden pallets for donations or for free if you can't muster the coin. Very friendly and provides a nice amenity as you aren't permitted to cut firewood on the site. If you can, please donate so that he continues to provide this service.
The site is about 9 miles off of I-90. There is a gas station, a bar and a small cafe in the town of Custer which is near the I-90 exit. All in all, the site was a hidden gem to me.
A lot of camping spots with large trees for privacy. Reasonable amount of firepits and access to wood piles. Not that much traffic, and the toilet is well maintained. Also a dope place for rockhounding, catfishing, hunting, and the people who do come in are friendly and respectful
Great spot, we were a little weary at first driving back there but once we got there lots of people were camping (but not too many). There was plenty of space for us to camp for the night. Bathroom wasn’t bad. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the river and the sound of the cows in the fields.
Loved it, right along the Yellowstone river. Close enough to the Interstate but far enough not to hear it. What you could hear was the train whistle several times a day. Would have given a 5 star rating if not for that.
