This campground hosts 20 campsites along the Shoshone River. One and a half miles east of the campground there are two trailheads, with corrals for public use, that lead into the Washakie Wilderness. Campers can enjoy a footbridge that crosses the river, and an abundance of juniper, fir pine, spruce, wild roses, and wild flowers. 16-day stay limit Bear boxes available Water: Available This site is accessible to persons with mobility impairments No cell service Notes: Hard-sided camping only. Due to grizzly bear activity, no tents or pop-up campers allowed. Maximum spur 40 feet
From Cody, travel west on U.S. Highway 14/26/20 for 45 miles to the campground. (This campground is about 8 miles from the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park)
Close to the East Gate, clean. We did day trips into Yellowstone. Not suitable for tents or pop-ups, (bears). Nice river sites.
If a spot is available, this is a great campground. Only 8mile from Yellowstone east entrance. Sites are heavily wooded and next to the Shoshone river. Horseback riding and zip line attraction very close. No hookups, cell signal, reservations or flush toilets. Fresh water available at pump wells and pit toilets. Must stay campground when in the area. Look for Shoshone national forest for more information.
Clean vault bathrooms & a water pump. You'll need some muscle to get your water, but it was a nice amenity to have. The campground was quite and is about 8 miles from the entrance to the Yellowstone park, so decent location.
Make sure to get to the site early to get a spot! All sites are first come first served.
Stayed here this past weekend and it’s a very beautiful area. Camp fees are currently $15 as of July 28, 2018. This is a hard sided camp site only that is first come first serve. When getting to the camp you’ll pull up to the sign, put your payment in the metal box then tag your site with the tag. I was able to show up Friday at 4pm and there were still plenty of open sites to chose from.
