Recreation

Boat, fish, swim, hike, bike or just sit back and relax on the nine-mile lake. Bay Springs Lake is dotted with recreation areas for a true sampling of the outdoors.

Facilities

Each of the 141 sites come with electric hookups, a lantern post, impact pad, campfire ring and picnic table. The park also has a playground, two multi-use courts, laundry facilities and an ice machine.

Natural Features

The man-made waterway connects the nation's midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico. So, the hosts are nice, but the gate people in the green tracker seem to like to race around the campground at high speed. There are several children riding bikes, playing, and in the road way, so this really should not be a place for employees to speed around. The bathrooms are not kept very clean. Took 3 days after me telling them to remove a spider that could be very harmful. And the cobwebs and bugs on walks and counters never are removed. I never saw it but was told, but both an attendant and a ranger that a snake is living in the bathroom, so I stopped going in there. It's very beautiful, but wildlife is abundant, including snakes, so be mindful of your surroundings. We lost power due to storms, so we left a couple of days early. Was told we would be getting a refund but never did.

Got there and found out that reservations must be made on the website, but I was able to do it from my phone it after I arrived. Beautiful campground right by the lake. Only $10 for a tent site! If you're traveling by motorcycle on the Natchez Trace, I would recommend coming in from the northern exit. I was traveling northbound on the Trace, so I got off and approached the campground from the south. However, my GPS had me taking gravel roads to get to the campground... not fun on a big motorcycle.

Beautiful COE in Mississippi! 2 different camping areas and what looks like a great beach. Water and electric only with dual dump station. Most of the sites are not big rig friendly.
