Welcome to Mamas’ Mountain Haven, 5 acres of beautifully wooded forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia! Formerly moonshine territory, the property features the remnants of bootlegging history with an overgrown hidden road in the back of the property that leads to a quaint little stream. We have cut a rough access road through the woods to the bootlegging road, so you may be able to make it back there if you have a truck!
Bring your metal detector to dig up a piece of prohibition history! Forage for your dinner with a variety of mushrooms, wild strawberries, and field garlic. Add some flavor with wild white thyme, wild carrot, or alfalfa. Enjoy delicious black raspberries from the plethora of brambles on the property!
We are located a mere 20 minutes from Smith Mountain Lake, where you can enjoy many water-based activities, along with special events, festivals, and live music. It is a 10 minute drive to historical downtown Rocky Mount, where you can walk around and browse the shops or the farmers market! I live here with my 10 year old daughter and our 2 rambunctious but friendly dogs! Join us around the fire pit if you’d like! I am 420 and s’mores friendly!
I can't say enough great things about this restaurant! We didn't have reservations, but they took us right in like we did. I even had a similar shirt on as the lady of the restaurant did. We were genuinely treated like family. Great people, great food! We were visiting from Cincinnati, Ohio. If I'm ever back in that Virginia area, I will definitely be eating at Mountain Mama Restaurant again!!
Exceptional!! We came here on 9/9/23 after a long hike over at Crabtree Falls and in need of nourishment. Based on the location and the reviews, we gave it a shot and boy were we happy!! We were disappointed at first by their lack of kid friendly options (I guess they don't get many children) but the owner (and chef) quickly remedied our disappointment with a kids meal on the house that she made up on the fly. WOW! Not only that, they gave my daughter a little figurine and some paint to play with while we waited.
My friend and I both ordered the teriyaki salmon and it was SO perfectly cooked and well seasoned. And a complimentary cheese and fruit board AND included dessert?! Whaaaaat?! Woah! Zero complaints.
And our waitress was top notch and couldn't be happier with her service.
Thank you so much for giving us amazing food and service so we could relax. We truly appreciate you and will certainly mark this as our new favorite mountain restaurant to come to after we are done at our new favorite hiking spot :) well done!!
Trish and Jodi are passionate and caring, from the conversations to the food and every detail - they are one step ahead of you. Alesha makes a perfect drink as ordered. Old fashion is what I recommend if you cant make up your mind. Jodi cooks the best steaks and sea food, and the collard greens are the best I’ve had even living in Charlston SC. The staff is welcoming and have great smiles and make you feel right at home. Cant wait to go back and leave another review.

Fantastic southern style collard greens and Mac n cheese. I couldn’t have wished for anything more. Wonderful service and so thankful they had room for us. Call ahead and make a reservation if you have time! 🧡
Wow, so yummy! We loved our seafood platter and dessert ( peanut butter brownie). It doesn't look like much on the outside but we were so impressed by the price and quality of food. The service was great as well which is always appreciated!
