Accessible by boat only, it is about 6 miles south of Garfield Bay on the west shore of Lake Pend Oreille.
Only those willing to exert themselves will appreciate this adventure. 2.4 mile hike in, or an open water boat ride in with no dock for off loading. The reward is amazing.
Nice 'moderate' 4.8 mile RT hike to the 'flat stone' beach at the foot of Maiden Rock. 1200 verts down, so 1200 verts back out w/ some steep slick dust/sand washouts.
Areas of the canyon on the way in were 65-70 degrees on a 90s day. 'Nature's air conditioning was awesome. Go early, bring plenty of water, and plan on swimming for an hour or two.
Most folks get there via boat.
