About Campground

Visitors to the Kisatchie Bayou Recreation Complex can enjoy scenic views of the rocky bayou surrounded by beautiful old growth hardwood and pine which gives this out-of-the-way recreation area such a wonderful setting for visitors. Hiking, camping, picnicking, fishing, and just relaxing are all popular activities enjoyed here. Kisatchie Bayou Campground is a primitive walk-in camping atmosphere with 17 walk-in sites and 1 drive-in site at the middle parking area. Tent pads, barbeque pits, and lantern posts are at each campsite. Trash receptacles and restrooms are available, but visitors should be aware that there is *NO WATER AVAILABLE* at this campground. This complex is a designated fee area. At the Day Use Area, there are vault restroom facilities, trash receptacles, picnic tables and fire rings. There are access steps to the bank of the bayou which allows canoe users to unload from the lower parking lot to the waters edge. Fishing is a very popular activity at Kisatchie Bayou with the possibility of hooking a bass, perch, sunfish, or catfish.

I love camping here, I've been coming here as many times as I could the last 20 years. I found it when I was in college at Northwestern State. Miles and miles of trails both walking and ATV as well as horseback trails. The kisatchie bayou campground is primitive tent camping only and you will need a way to get your stuff to the site of your choice. There are some sites that are very close to the parking area, but there are some nicer ones further off the beaten path.

Quiet and serine, this destination is sure to please everyone. Beautiful views and breath taking scenery, there is plenty of room for a lot of campers and fun to be had by all. Don't forget to bring your tube, the river is just perfect to play in

We camped here for 3 days, it was a lot of fun, there is bathrooms but I would recommend doing it in the woods. there is NO DRINKING WATER, so be sure you have enough to cover the time you’ll be there. there is about 15-20 campsites but i seen people camping on sand bars so you can camp anywhere I guess, its pretty quiet after 9pm and up to 8am a lot of long walking trails i seen spots for hammocks lots of wildlife lots of shade not a lot of bugs so that was nice the water isn’t that deep in most spots but some places are about 15ft deep I would recommend for anyone to come camp here with or without kids

Camped here in January in 30 degree weather. Nice area with clearly laid out camping areas with fire pit and bench.

At night, we started hearing explosions and gunfire ! We were so confused on what was going on but we found information online stating there’s a nearby military training facility. They would do sessions for a little bit and then start again. It went on until 9:30-10 PM. Otherwise, nice quiet area in the woods.
