Lone Mound Ranch is an idyllic, high plains, working grass-fed beef cattle ranch. Tent or boon docking camp sites available range from primitive locations atop a 1/4 mile long mesa w/ a 30+ mile view under the stars to groves of mature elm trees in a valley w/ stone fire rings or a ravine-side site with evergreens, mature elms & water available. 110, 30 and 50 amp electric service also available near the hard road at our RV sites. So many trails & tributaries to explore down & along the ravine while finding wild hares in sage brush, turtles, horny toads, petrified wood & more wildflowers than you could imagine all punctuated by picturesque sunrises and sunsets. Great place to stop off for a night - big sky views and a lovely ranch shop.
Very cool place! With even cooler hosts! Always something to do and very relaxing! Will definitely be back.
We stayed here a few weeks back. The owners daughter met us at the shop. I bought eggs, sausage, and chopped meat. All of it was delicious. The sausage was surprisingly delicious since it tasted like fresh home made pork sausage but it was made of lean grass fed beef from cows who live a good life on this beautiful farm. Next time I will try the steak although grass fed free range cows are a little tough I hear, I think it is worth it! My only regret is that I am from NJ and too far away to pick up those best eggs I ever ate. And, I can not forget to thank these awesome people for a great nights sleep under the stars in my rv.
Wonderful place to stop over for the night. We had no trouble getting there in a low clearance sedan, but watch the weather though, might be different in a different season. The ranch is amazing. There's nothing like the sound of livestock and the sky out there at dawn. A true credit to the great state of Texas.
I stayed at the incredible Lone Mound Ranch for a week. Lana and Chancie were super welcoming, friendly and helpful. I enjoyed tent camping under the jaw dropping stars, a ton of hikes right on the property...exploring all of the many property features and diverse terrain. I especially enjoyed target practice in the "Labyrinth" (a fascinatingly beautiful draw which spans 3/4s of a mile). Lana generously offered that I could move my tent to a covered area for an incoming storm. The cows were especially curious as I frequented their space. If you are looking for a genuine farm experience with lots of area to explore and hosted by incredible people, you need to check out the Lone Mound Ranch! They also have a large menu of Meat and Dairy fresh from the farm. I highly recommend staying here!
