MERUS Adventure™ is at the end of County Road 9. Right before you dead end at a red gate, there is a property to your left where you'll see a large arched-shaped office building. This is the park entrance. The red gate at the end of County Road 9 is private property and not affiliated with MERUS Adventure™.
My wife and I went on the green guided trail led by Jeff Bull. It was an awesome experience and Jeff was very informative about the Merus park. Everyone working at Merus was sincere and had top notch service! We will be spending many days here from now on.
I struggle with this review because on one hand it was the most fun I have had on an off road park in Texas and I want everyone to know it! But on the other hand, it’s such a hidden gem and I don’t want it overrun lol!! But make no mistake, your money is WELL spent here. Wife and I spent 9 hours on our tour through the blue trails and I cannot wait to come back for the Toyota Takeover this year. The service personnel in the front office we TOP NOTCH and our guide, Dan, was the star of the show. Such a friendly man and so incredibly knowledgeable of the trails and parks and the history within. I’ll definitely be asking if he can be my guide on any future trips. I’m sure the other guides are great but we so enjoyed our time with Dan. If you’re looking for a great park to test your rig or wanting to dip your toes into the off roading sport, this is the place to go!! We are customers for life here.
This place is a gem in a state with very little public land. I cant recommend it highly enough. If you have a decent off-road worthy vehicle you will have an absolute blast. I would highly recommend getting a guided run through the park. There are trails for all levels of driver and vehicle capability. I met Dirk the owner and he seems like a super passionate guy who just enjoys the outdoors. The views here are incredible, and the staff is amazing. There are hiking trails all over the place, you can ride mountain bikes, and the camping is exceptional. Places like this just aren't available in Texas which makes it all the more amazing.
This was our third trip to the park, and we keep discovering new things we love about it. Chris was our guide for the weekend and was very accommodating for our group, even going so far as to change his schedule to allow certain people to sleep later!
He seemed to know the park really well and made trail suggestions based on our group's abilities. We kept moving on the trails at a good pace; quick enough to see a lot of the park, but always got a spot for difficult obstacles and time for photos. Definitely recommend him as a guide in the future.
The park itself is great too! The photos never do it justice; the scenery is beautiful and the campsites always have a great view. The trail ratings and GPS maps seem accurate and reliable.
Went here on a solo trip with my camper and Dog this passed weekend, absolutely loved it. I drive a 4x4 f150 crew cab with a 3 inch lift and 35s. Had no issues on all of the beginner trails, probably could've attempted some intermediate. Staff was amazing. I felt absolutely secluded at my camp. Stayed in east rise F and C. Both great views although a little windy. Will be back!
