Lake View Campground is composed of 6 campsites including 1 double site, situated in a lodgepole pine overstory on Stanley Lake. All sites are first-come, first-serve. There is a boat ramp near this campsite and Stanley Lake offers excellent swimming, boating, waterskiing, canoeing, kayaking and fishing for rainbow, cutthroat, brook and bull trout. There are several hiking trails in the area including Stanley Lake trail head, Elk Mountain trail head and Lady Face Falls is nearby. Beautiful McGowan peak with an elevation of 9,860 is visible to the south.
All sites are first-come, first-serve.
This campground is wonderful. We stayed in site #3 which I'm sure must have had the best view of the mountains. Each site offers a fair amount of privacy and shade with the trees and includes plenty of room for multiple tents and vehicles. The mosquitoes were pretty thick, so make sure you come prepared with some heavy duty spray. The site also has a grill over the fire pit which made for some awesome foil dinners and a picnic table to dine on. There are two other nearby campsites, but I think this one in particular has the best location as far as view and privacy. A little spendy at $16/night but the bathrooms were squeaky clean and easily accessible. The site manager was friendly and nice to talk to.
Camp host, Charlie, is very gracious and helpful.
The site is adjacent to Stanley Lake Campground. Clean and well organized. Be sure to arrive early since it fills up very soon in July.
