When all the campsites are fully booked in Joshua Tree Nation Park, this is your next best option to get a campsite near the park.
Located off Hwy 62, 4 mi E of Park Blvd in Joshua Tree, or 11 mi W of Adobe Rd in 29 Palms. Turn N on Sunfair Rd, go 5 mi to park entrance.
Nice quiet campground with easy pull through spots. Location is approx 6+ miles from town of JT and the surrounding desert towns. Approx 30 min drive to the national park. Great spot for stargazing.
For a place out in the middle of the desert, it was probably better than expected. It is fairly barren, but each site came with one sad tree, power and water. Aside from a too narrow entry driveway, access was good and rig parking was easy.
They do have a small lake/pond adjacent to the campground that might be nice to sit alongside.
It was a stopover spot with close access to Joshia Tree NP, and served that role well for what they charged.
I solo van camp and this campground suited my needs perfectly. Plenty of space between campers, super clean bathrooms and shower house. A lovely lake with resident ducks and hoot owls. Caught bunnies playing on my drive out. Beautiful place to sit and watch the world. The staff are friendly and helpful. Stayed an extra night because of how peaceful it was. Will definitely be back for some of the events they host throughout the year.
