About Campground

The Hidden Valley Campground has 44 sites, pit toilets and no water. The campground is located along park boulevard and is surrounded by large boulders and Joshua Trees. Because of the park's very dry climate, fire danger in Joshua Tree is almost always very high. Be cautious. Campfires are allowed only in designated fire rings or grills that are found in park campgrounds or picnic areas. Keep fires small. Bring your own firewood. You may not gather park vegetation, whether living or dead, to fuel your campfire. If you plan to have a campfire, bring extra water to douse it thoroughly.

This is a large campground with huge boulders to explore and beautiful sunset views. However, be aware that you must pay for the campground at an entrance station to the park, none of which are near the campground itself.

Great location in the busy area of the park. Sites are tight for any rig longer than 21'. Climbers hot spot.

We camped at site 18 during the Labor Day holiday. There were lots of vacant sites when we arrive, maybe it’s low season during summer. But we had great experience and the weather was perfect for camping, we saw the moon in the sky and tons of stars, with the rock formations around us, it’s such a unique place for camping.

Best place to star gaze. Went here to see Persede meteor shower. This place was over crowded with people as it’s an annual celestial occasion. I believe it should be less crowded on normal days. This place is heaven for star gazers and people who love adventure and camping. This place is special as we can see silhouette of Milky Way galaxy gas cloud. Overall had a fun night. Pack enough insulation to keep yourself warm at nights and try to get a tripod and other camera equipment to see the miracle at night.

Great place to camp for climbers. The Rangers are real sticklers about site reservations and ticketing people but the area IA beautiful. The chasm of doom at night is so fun and watching the sun set from the space station is an experience like no other.
