The Joseph T. Fallini Campground, situated on the banks of the Mackay Reservoir, is the only recreational site in Challis Field Office that offers full RV hookups and features a diversity of other facilities. This scenic area has a gorgeous view of the Lost River Range and offers recreational opportunities such as boating in the summer and ice fishing in late winter.
Mackay Reservoir offers a boat ramp providing access to the reservoir for jet skiing, water skiing, and sailing. Other boat launches along the reservoir (and one downstream of the dam) are also available.
There are 26 camp sites, an RV hook ups and dump station, restrooms, drinking water, a boat ramp, and an interpretive trail.
North of Mackay, Idaho/south of Challis. Travel north from Mackay on Highway 93 for approximately 6 miles. The site will be on the west side of the highway.

One of the Best experiences I’ve had. Got to use my fly pole for the first time and we caught rainbow trout (catch and release). Bathrooms and camping spots on site. We just stopped to fish though. Nothing beats the views while catching fish!
The campground is clean and quiet. The place was packed when we stayed, but we still felt like we had plenty of our own space. And the spot we found on the Grouse Loop was close to the water, which was a great bonus. The water was fun to swim in, but the fishing was subpar. Probably because it was the end of July. I do wish there were mature trees on the Grouse Loop like there are in the Chukkar Loop to provide some relief from the sun. Overall it's a nice place, and we will go back, but at a cooler time of the year.
This was a beautiful ending to a gorgeous day. Sunset was memorable. Throughout the night distant lightning was visible in the mountains. The early morning waning moon that we had at the time, before the sunrise lit up the scenery like magic when we awoke. This is a great option of camp ground if you're driving through. There are not many tent sites though we were the only ones using a tent site on a week day night in September. The tent campsites have covered tables and a grill and a fire pit with grill. Primitive bathrooms. We were very happy to stay the night here.
