this was the last refuge for quiet nature camping and it is 2x the price as years before. the new cabins they have keep campers awake all night with the noise from their generators also the porta pottys are always full and smell bad, we have been coming for 20 years will never come again.
We called ahead of time to check availability and price we were told $10 and there was plenty of availability we got there and we had to sign a waiver for tent camping and were told we would be locked in from 10pm to 8am unless we wanted to pay $100 to sleep in one of their tent/ cabins and it would come with the gate code, we got up early got all packed up ready by about 8:10am and we waited at the gate till 8:30am for someone to come unlock it. It was very peaceful there right next to the river good location for camping we were the only ones there and the staff were very nice and helpful other than not mentioning price was per person
I've been going to this campground for years. It's messy right now with the updates they are doing but it's cheap and bare bones car camping. No water no showers no electricity but great spot in the gorge.
After driving around searching for a campsite ( the state ones were all full) a local directed us to this hidden gem. It was quiet and had lots of room for our 6 kids to roam! Having a place to buy firewood on site was really nice too! There are port a potties and a water access. Overall it was a very nice campsite. The only downside for this place is that they charge per person ( even kids) per night. That added up quickly for us .
